CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH

DIAGNOSIS:

Input signal circuit of SPORT shift switch is open or shorted.

TROUBLE SYMPTOM:

Does not shift on sport shift mode.

WIRING DIAGRAM:

1.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Move the select lever to sport shift mode.

2) Shift and hold the select lever to up side.

Does the LED illuminate?

2.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

Shift and hold the select lever to down side.

Does the LED illuminate?

3.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH.

Hold to press the + side of steering shift switch.

Does the LED illuminate?

4.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH.

Hold to press the − side of steering shift switch.

Does the LED illuminate?

Go to the procedure “CHECK SPORT SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT”.

5.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT.

1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2) Disconnect the connector from SPORT shift switch.

3) Measure the resistance of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and chassis ground.

(B237) No. 2 — Chassis ground:

RHD

(B237) No. 6 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between SPORT shift switch and chassis ground.

6.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

Measure the resistance between SPORT shift switch terminals.

Terminal

No. 6 — No. 2:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Replace the guide plate assembly.

7.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Move the select lever to sport shift mode.

2) Measure the resistance between the sport shift switch terminals while holding the select lever to the shift up side.

Terminal

No. 6 — No. 2:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Replace the guide plate assembly.

8.CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Disconnect the connector from TCM.

2) Measure the resistance of harness between TCM connector and sport shift switch connector.

(B237) No. 6 — (B54) No. 19:

RHD

(B237) No. 2 — (B54) No. 19:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and TCM connector, or poor contact in connector.

9.CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Disconnect the connector from the steering roll connector.

2) Measure the resistance of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and chassis ground.

(B237) No. 6 — Chassis ground:

RHD

(B237) No. 2 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Repair the short circuit of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and TCM connector.

10.CHECK INPUT SIGNAL TO TCM.

1) Connect all connectors.

2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF).

3) Measure the voltage of signal to TCM.

(B54) No. 19 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

Is the voltage 9 V or more?

Replace the TCM.

11.CHECK INPUT SIGNAL TO TCM.

1) Shift and hold the select lever to up side.

2) Measure the voltage of signal to TCM.

Connector & terminal

(B54) No. 19 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

Is the voltage less than 1 V?

Replace the TCM.

12.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT.

1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2) Disconnect the connector from SPORT shift switch.

3) Measure the resistance of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B237) No. 3 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between SPORT shift switch and chassis ground.

13.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

Measure the resistance between SPORT shift switch terminals.

Terminal

No. 3 — No. 1:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Replace the guide plate assembly.

14.CHECK SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Move the select lever to sport shift mode.

2) Measure the resistance between the sport shift switch terminals while holding the select lever to the shift down side.

Terminal

No. 3 — No. 1:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Replace the guide plate assembly.

15.CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Disconnect the connector from TCM.

2) Measure the resistance of harness between TCM connector and sport shift switch connector.

Connector & terminal

(B237) No. 1 — (B54) No. 18:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and TCM connector, or poor contact in connector.

16.CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND SPORT SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Disconnect the steering roll connector.

2) Measure the resistance of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B237) No. 1 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Repair the short circuit of harness between SPORT shift switch connector and TCM connector.

17.CHECK INPUT SIGNAL TO TCM.

1) Connect all connectors.

2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF).

3) Measure the voltage of signal to TCM.

(B54) No. 18 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

Is the voltage 9 V or more?

Replace the TCM.

18.CHECK INPUT SIGNAL TO TCM.

1) Shift and hold the select lever to down side.

2) Measure the voltage of signal to TCM.

Connector & terminal

(B54) No. 18 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

Is the voltage less than 1 V?

Replace the TCM.

19.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT.

1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2) Disconnect the connector from the steering roll connector.

3) Measure the resistance of harness between steering roll connector and chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B236) No. 8 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between steering roll connector and chassis ground.

20.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH.

Measure the resistance between the steering shift switch terminals.

Terminal

No. 8 — No. 2:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Replace the steering roll connector or the steering shift switch. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

21.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Hold to press the + side of steering shift switch.

2) Measure the resistance between the steering shift switch terminals.

Terminal

No. 8 — No. 2:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Replace the steering roll connector or the steering shift switch. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

22.CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND STEERING ROLL CONNECTOR.

1) Disconnect the connector from TCM.

2) Measure the resistance of harness between TCM connector and steering roll connector.

(B54) No. 19 — (B236) No. 2:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between TCM connector and steering roll connector, and poor contact of connector.

23.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2) Disconnect the connector from the steering roll connector.

3) Measure the resistance between the steering shift switch terminals.

Terminal

No. 8 — No. 7:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Replace the steering roll connector or the steering shift switch. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

24.CHECK STEERING SHIFT SWITCH.

1) Hold to press the − side of steering shift switch.

2) Measure the resistance between the steering shift switch terminals.

Terminal

No. 8 — No. 7:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Replace the steering roll connector or the steering shift switch. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

25.CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND STEERING ROLL CONNECTOR.

1) Disconnect the connector from TCM.

2) Measure the resistance of harness between TCM connector and steering roll connector.

Connector & terminal

(B54) No. 18 — (B236) No. 7:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between TCM connector and steering roll connector, and poor contact of connector.

26.CHECK POOR CONTACT.

Is there poor contact in the SPORT shift switch circuit?

Repair the poor contact.

A temporary poor contact of the SPORT shift switch circuit connector or harness.
