INSTALLATION

1. Install the oil pump to bracket.

(1) Place the oil pump bracket in a vise. Tighten the bushing using a 12.7 mm (1/2″) type 14- and 21- mm box wrench until it is in contact with the oil pump mounting surface.

CAUTION:

When securing the oil pump bracket in a vice, hold the oil pump bracket with the least possible force between two pieces of wood.

(2) Tighten the bolts which hold the oil pump to the bracket.

Tightening torque:

15.7 N·m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.6 ft-lb)

Tightening torque:

37.3 N·m (3.8 kgf-m, 27.5 ft-lb)

2. Attach the installation bolts of the power steering pump bracket.

3. Install pipe C and the suction hose to the oil pump.

Tightening torque:

Eye bolt

40 N·m (4.1 kgf-m, 29.5 ft-lb)

CAUTION:

Be careful when installing; If the hose is twisted it may come into contact with other parts.

4. Connect the power steering pump switch to the connector.

5. Install the V-belts to the oil pump.

6. Tighten the oil pump pulley nut to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:

52 N·m (5.3 kgf-m, 38.3 ft-lb)

7. Check the tension of the V-belt.

8. Tighten the belt tension bolt.

Tightening torque:

8 N·m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.8 ft-lb)

9. Install the belt cover.

10. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery.

11. Fill with the specified power steering fluid.

CAUTION:

Never start the engine before filling with fluid; otherwise the vane pump may become seized.
