SEAT BELT SYSTEM > Disposal of Pretensioner
WARNING:
• Deploy the pretensioner before discarding. If it deploys by accident, it may cause serious personal injury.
• Deploy the pretensioner in a safe flat location. Avoid deploying outdoors when rainy or windy weather.
• Wear protective gloves, safety goggles and earplugs during operation. Wash your hands afterwards.
CAUTION:
• A large explosive noise will occur when the pretensioner is deployed. Warn persons in the area, and do not allow anyone to approach a radius of 5m (16 ft) from the discard location.
• After deploying the pretensioner, smoke may arise. Therefore, it must be deployed in a well-ventilated place with no smoke detector nearby.
• After deployment, the pretensioner will be extremely hot. Let it cool down for at least 40 minutes in an area with no one around.
• Do not allow water to enter the deployed pretensioner.
• Wrap the deployed pretensioner in a sealed vinyl bag when discarding.
• If circumstances do not permit the pretensioner deployment, contact the SUBARU distributor service.
