KEYLESS ACCESS WITH PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS) > Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
DTC DETECTING CONDITION:
The power supply CM could not detect the unlock status of the steering CM.
TROUBLE SYMPTOM:
Because the steering lock status cannot be determined, the engine will not start.
WIRING DIAGRAM:

1.CHECK DTC.
Connect the Subaru Select Monitor, and read the DTC of the collation CM.

Is B2201 or B2205 displayed?
|
Perform diagnosis according to the DTC.
|
|
2.CHECK WIRING HARNESS.
1) Disconnect the power supply CM connector.
2) Using a tester, check continuity between the power supply CM connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B420) No. 6 — Chassis ground:
(B420) No. 40 — Chassis ground:

|
Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
|
3.CHECK WIRING HARNESS.
1) Disconnect the steering lock CM connector.
2) Using a tester, check continuity between the power supply CM connector and steering lock CM.

(B420) No. 32 — (B424) No. 3:
(B420) No. 30 — (B424) No. 5:

Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
|
4.CHECK WIRING HARNESS.
Using a tester, check continuity between the power supply CM connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B420) No. 26 — Chassis ground:
(B420) No. 32 — Chassis ground:
(B420) No. 30 — Chassis ground:

Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.
|
|
5.CHECK WIRING HARNESS.
1) Connect the steering lock CM.
2) Using a tester, check continuity between the steering lock CM connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B424) No. 1 — Chassis ground:
(B424) No. 2 — Chassis ground:

|
Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
|
6.CHECK STEERING LOCK CM.
1) Connect the disconnected connectors.
2) Turn the ignition ON, and unlock the steering lock.
3) Using a tester, check continuity between the steering lock CM connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B424) No. 4 — Chassis ground:

Replace the steering lock CM. 
|
7.CONFIRMATION OF FUNCTION CHECKS.
1) Disconnect the steering lock CM connector.
2) Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform forced drive of the «Steering lock power supply». Check the continuity between the power supply CM terminal and chassis ground at this time.

Replace the power supply CM. 
|
8.CHECK CURRENT DATA.
1) Connect the disconnected connectors.
2) Check the power supply CM data «Steering unlock SW» using the Subaru Select Monitor.

Does the display become OFF during steering lock, and ON when the steering lock is unlocked?
|
Replace the steering lock CM. 
|
Replace the power supply CM. 
|
NOTE:
The steering lock becomes unlocked at ignition ON, and steering lock becomes locked when the door is opened and closed after ignition OFF.
