MECHANICAL(H4DOTC DIESEL) > Cylinder Head

REMOVAL

1. Remove the engine from vehicle.

2. Remove the V-belts.

3. Remove the V-belt tensioner.

4. Remove the crank pulley.

5. Remove the scavenge pump.

6. Remove the vacuum pump.

7. Remove the camshaft position sensor.

8. Remove the oil level gauge and oil level gauge guide from the chain cover.

9. Remove the chain cover.

10. Remove the timing chain assembly.

11. Remove the cam sprocket.

NOTE:

Step 11 is only performed when replacing the camshaft.

12. Remove the intake manifold.

13. Remove the rocker cover.

14. Disconnect the fuel delivery pipe and return pipe.

15. Remove the camshaft.

16. Remove the fuel injector and glow plug from the cylinder head.

NOTE:

Step 16 is only performed when performing disassembly maintenance of the cylinder head.

17. Remove the EGR cooler from the rear of the cylinder head (RH).

18. Remove the water pipe fixture bolt from the rear of the cylinder head (RH).

19. Remove the return pipe and water pipe fixture bolts from the rear and bottom of cylinder head (LH).

20. Remove the flange bolts indicated in the figure from the cylinder head.

21. Remove the cylinder head bolts in the numerical order as shown in the figure. Leave bolts (1) and (4) engaged by three or four threads to prevent the cylinder head from falling.

22. While tapping the cylinder head lightly with a plastic hammer, separate it from the cylinder block.

23. Remove the bolts (1) and (4) to remove cylinder head.

24. Remove the cylinder head gasket.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to scratch the mating surface of cylinder head and cylinder block.
