REMOVAL

CAUTION:

When replacing the ECM, be sure to perform steps 1) and 2) before starting work.

1. Read and make a note of the fuel injector IDs registered in the ECM.

NOTE:

If the ECM is damaged and the Subaru Select Monitor cannot be used, make note of the ID (30 characters) on the top of the fuel injectors.

2. Perform the “Reading of DPF/engine oil-related learning values: ECM to SSM”.

NOTE:

If the ECM has malfunction and it is impossible to perform “Reading of DPF/engine oil-related learning values”, perform the following.

Replace with new catalytic converter and DPF.

Replace the engine oil and engine oil filter.

3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

4. Remove the lower inner trim of passenger’s side.

5. Turn over the floor mat of passenger’s seat.

6. Remove the protect cover.

7. Remove the nuts and bolts which hold the ECM to the bracket.

8. While pushing the areas indicated by (A) in the figure, move the lock levers (B), and disconnect the ECM connectors.
