FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS)(H4DOTC DIESEL) > Fuel Tank
1. Install the fuel tank band.
3. Install the clamps securing the fuel tubes and harnesses.
4. Install the fuel harness.
5. Install the fuel delivery tube, fuel sub delivery tube and fuel return tube, and connect the quick connectors.
NOTE:
Use a new retainer.

6. Connect the hoses (sub fuel pump hoses, fuel filler hose and air vent hose) to the fuel tank.
NOTE:
• Insert hoses as far as possible.
• Install clamps and clips in the positions shown in the following figure.
Tightening torque:
T1: 1.5 N·m (0.2 kgf-m, 1.1 ft-lb)
T2: 2 N·m (0.2 kgf-m, 1.5 ft-lb)

7. Set the transmission jack under the fuel tank.
8. Set the fuel tank to the vehicle and temporarily tighten the fuel tank bolts.
WARNING:
Two persons are required to perform this procedure.
9. Connect hose (B) to the sub fuel pump and fuel damper assembly.
Tightening torque:
1.5 N·m (0.2 kgf-m, 1.1 ft-lb)
10. Connect the sub fuel pump harness connector (A).
11. Securely insert the fuel filler hose (A) and air vent hose (B) into the specified position, then attach the clamp or clip as shown in the figure.

12. Install the heat shield cover.
Tightening torque:
18 N·m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)
13. Tighten the bolts of the fuel tank band in the order shown in the figure.
Tightening torque:
33 N·m (3.4 kgf-m, 24.3 ft-lb)
14. Install the rear suspension assembly.
WARNING:
Two persons are required to perform this procedure.
(1) Support the rear differential with the transmission jack.
(2) Support the rear suspension assembly, and tighten the bolts which secure the rear suspension assembly to the body.
Tightening torque:
T1: 70 N·m (7.1 kgf-m, 51.6 ft-lb)
T2: 145 N·m (14.8 kgf-m, 106.9 ft-lb)
15. Tighten the bolts which hold the rear shock absorber to the rear suspension arm.
Tightening torque:
120 N·m (12.2 kgf-m, 88.5 ft-lb)
16. Separate drain connector (A) and drain hose (B).
17. Connect the rear differential gear oil temperature switch connector and the ground connector, and install the harness clamp to the rear sub frame.
18. Install the rear vehicle height sensor. (left side only)
Tightening torque:
7.5 N·m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)
19. Install the rear vehicle height sensor connector. (left side only)
20. Install the parking brake cable.
Tightening torque:
18 N·m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)
21. Secure the parking brake cable with a clamp.
22. Connect the rear ABS wheel speed sensor connector.
23. Install the heat shield cover.
Tightening torque:
18 N·m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)
24. Install the fuel tank protector.
Tightening torque:
Nut: 9 N·m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)
Bolt: 18 N·m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)
27. Lower the vehicle.
29. Install the rear disc brake.
Tightening torque:
53 N·m (5.4 kgf-m, 39.1 ft-lb)
30. Tighten the bolts which hold the rear brake hose bracket.
Tightening torque:
33 N·m (3.3 kgf-m, 24.3 ft-lb)
31. Install the rear ABS wheel speed sensor to the rear housing.
Tightening torque:
7.5 N·m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)
32. Install the rear wheels.
Tightening torque:
100 N·m (10.2 kgf-m, 73.8 ft-lb)
33. Connect the fuel tube to the fuel sub level sensor.
NOTE:
Use a new retainer.
34. Connect the fuel delivery tube to the fuel level sensor.
NOTE:
Use a new retainer.

35. Install the service hole cover of the fuel level sensor and sub level sensor.
36. Connect the harness connector and secure the harness to the vehicle.
37. Install the rear seat.
38. Pump the priming pump on top of the fuel filter assembly to fill the fuel system with fuel.
NOTE:
Pump the priming pump until it is stiff.
39. Connect the ground cable to battery.
42. Start the engine and make sure that there is no fuel leakage.
