STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS(H4DOTC DIESEL) > Starter
1. Loosen the nuts fastening magnet switch assembly terminal M, and disconnect the connector.
2. Remove the screws fastening the magnet switch assembly, and remove the magnet switch, plunger and plunger spring as a single unit from the starter.

3. Remove the through bolts and brush holder screws on both sides, and remove the rear cover.
4. Remove the armature, yoke and brush holder from the front bracket.
NOTE:
Before removing of the yoke and brush holder, put alignment marks on the yoke and front bracket.

5. Remove the plate.

6. Remove the gasket A, gear assembly and gasket B.

7. Remove the plate.
NOTE:
This can be removed together with gasket B.

8. Remove the ball.
9. Remove the shaft assembly and overrunning clutch as a single unit from the front bracket.
NOTE:
Check the following points before removal.
• Lever direction
• Internal gear assembly position

10. Use the following procedures to remove the overrunning clutch from the shaft assembly.
(1) Use an appropriate tool (such as a socket wrench of the correct size) to lightly tap on the stopper and remove it from the ring.
(2) Remove the ring, spacer, and clutch from the shaft.
