REMOVAL

1. Set the vehicle on a lift.

2. Open the front hood completely.

3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

4. Drain transmission gear oil completely.

5. Remove the intercooler.

6. Remove the intercooler stay.

7. Disconnect the connector of back-up light switch and neutral position switch.

8. Disconnect the ground cable.

9. Remove the starter.

10. Remove the engine hanger.

11. Remove the throttle body.

12. Remove the operating cylinder from the transmission, and hang it with a wire or the like.

13. Remove the pitching stopper.

14. Set the ST.

15. Lift up the vehicle.

16. Remove the exhaust pipe and muffler.

CAUTION:

When removing the exhaust pipes, be careful each exhaust pipe not to drop.

17. Remove the bolts which hold upper side of transmission to engine.

18. Remove the heat shield cover.

19. Remove the transmission under cover.

20. Remove the hanger bracket from the left side of the transmission.

21. Remove the propeller shaft.

22. Remove the MT gear shift cable and MT gear select cable from MT gear shift lever.

CAUTION:

Do not bend MT gear shift cable and MT gear select cable at a sharp angle.

Disconnect the MT gear shift cable and MT gear select cable at the MT gear shift lever side.

Always use new MT gear select cable if the cable is removed from selector lever COMPL of transmission side.

23. Remove the front vehicle height sensor.

24. Remove the stabilizer link from the front arm.

25. Remove the bolts which secure front arm ball joint to the housing, and separate the front arm and housing.

26. Using a crowbar, remove the left and right front drive shaft from the transmission.

27. Remove the bolts and nuts which hold lower side of transmission to engine.

28. Place the transmission jack under the transmission.

CAUTION:

Always support the transmission case with a transmission jack.

29. Remove the front crossmember and rear crossmember from the vehicle.

30. While lowering the transmission jack, tighten the turnbuckle of the ST, and incline the engine unit rearward.

31. Remove the transmission.

NOTE:

Move the transmission jack towards the rear until the main shaft is withdrawn from the clutch disc.

32. Separate the transmission assembly from the transmission cushion rubber.
